The Mamaroneck Schools Board of Education is made up of seven elected members who volunteer to represent the citizens in the district. Each of the district's schools - Mamaroneck High School, Hommocks Middle School, Chatsworth Avenue School, Murray Avenue School, Mamaroneck Avenue School and Central School - has a board member liaison, who also serves on or directs school-related committees and community and town organizations.
The board's mission is "to promote intellectual engagement and an appreciation of learning as an inherently rewarding activity to prepare students to function as responsible citizens, and to prepare students to live in a multi-cultural world," according to the board's official Web site.
The Board usually meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. The meetings are open to the public and usually televised on LMC-TV (channel 75 or 76) and on Verizon (channel 35 or 36). To address the board, one must fill out a blue sheet outside of the meeting room.
Study or work sessions are held at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month. Comments are usually allowed.
For meeting dates and locations, see the district calendar on the board's Web site.
