Lauren Golfer is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with a passion for caring for the whole patient. Her approach is informed by a belief in a strong patient-provider relationship. Her focuses include gynecologic disease management, family planning, trauma, and LGBTQ care. Lauren began her career in marketing and grant writing, and received a degree from the University of Maryland, as part of the College Park Scholars Program. She soon realized she wanted to work directly with patients at the ground level, and went back to school to study nursing at New York University. She spent several years working in Ob/Gyn before entering the Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Here, she was a recipient of the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Downstate Community, as well as graduate speaker at Convocation. Her graduate research focused on racial disparities in maternal morbidity. She is a member of various professional organizations, including: Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing; NPWH, the premier organization for Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health; and ACOG, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
