Dr. Yurteri-Kaplan is fellowship trained and board certified in Urogynecology and Obstetrics and Gynecology and is the section director of the Urogynecology section at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). She completed her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey. She then went to complete her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center / MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. During that time she was awarded a full scholarship and completed a masters in Clinical and Translational Research at Georgetown. She has published many peer reviewed articles on her research and has presented nationally on pelvic floor disorders. She sat on the American Urogynecologic Society’s systematic review subcommittee publishing several systematic reviews. She is the Chair of the Pelvic Floor Disorders Research Registry (PFDR-R) for the American Urogynecologic Society. The PFDR-R is prospective long term evaluation of outcomes among women who undergo surgical prolapse repair or pessary use. She also sits on the American Urogynecologic Society Public Education Committee, creating literature regarding common pelvic floor conditions for the public. In addition to national work, she is the program director for the Regional NYC Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstruction Fellows course hosted yearly at Columbia with involvement from regional fellowships. Her surgical skills include all minimally invasive approaches with advance pelvic laparoscopy, daVinci Robotic Surgical system, vaginal, and cystoscopic surgery.
