John F. Hughes Elementary School is a magnet school that teaches students in kindergarten through grade five. It has a staff of more than 30 full-time certified teachers that provides academic classes in music, art, math, history, language arts, computer technology, reading, spelling, writing, science, and physical and special education. John F. Hughes Elementary School has associations with Hamilton College, Masonic Home and Child Guidance Clinic. It maintains various school organizations, including a parent-teacher association, shared decision making committee and advisory council. The school operates a bookstore, as well as drama, reading and young scholars clubs. John F. Hughes Elementary School is governed by the Utica City School District and is located in Utica, N.Y.
