History
Jennifer graduated at the top of her class; Magna Cum Laude from NYU and with Distinguished Honors for her Masters in Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt Institute. She works part-time in private practice, providing outpatient psychotherapy services to clients of all ages, with a specific focus on treating children, adolescents, and young adults. Jennifer's office is conveniently located just blocks from Union Square and most major transit lines. In addition to her part-time art therapy/psychotherapy practice, she currently work as the Art Therapist at The Door, a drop-in center for teens in Soho, and as the Art Therapy Program Director for Artistic Noise, a nonprofit providing arts based psychotherapy services for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. In the past, Jennifer has provided therapy within both NYC's homeless shelter and foster care systems.
Specialties
In her practice, Jennifer caters her therapeutic approach to each individual's unique needs, combining the use of creative arts therapy, verbal psychotherapy, and mindfulness. Through providing opportunity for both verbal and non-verbal exploration in one psychotherapy experience, clients often find it easier to authentically communicate, working through tough issues in creative ways. During therapy sessions, Jennifer assists clients with the utilization of image-making, helping them externalize their internal experience. Both process and imagery lead to new insights and understanding. Jennifer's services can benefit people of all ages and backgrounds, supporting with emotional and behavioral difficulties, physical limitations, and mental illness. No artistic skills are needed and there is no one way for a session to unfold; the creative process is flexible! Through the context of a secure therapeutic relationship, Jennifer incorporates innovative approaches and outside-the-box thinking to help her clients navigate all aspects of their lives, leading to deeper self-exploration, and offering opportunity for growth and increased psychological well-being.
