Soon after the Suzuki Method was introduced in the United States in 1964, Joan and Sandy Reuning established Ithaca Talent Education School in Ithaca, NY. Our school has a history of being one of the pioneers of Suzuki education in the country, and through the efforts of our faculty we have also introduced the ideas of Shinichi Suzuki to several other countries around the world. Through our affiliation with Ithaca College at the summer Suzuki Institute, our school has become a center for learning in the Northeastern U.S. The summer Suzuki Institute offers instruction for students, parents, and teachers from across the U.S. and many foreign countries. ITE is also involved in an ongoing project in Mexico to train teachers and work with students. It is the dedicated, experienced professional faculty... the parents who help their children learn at home... the wide range of advanced students as well as the young beginners.. and the welcoming atmosphere of our school building and staff, that make ITE a very special place to study. Instruction includes private lessons for violin, viola and cello, recitals, concerts, workshops, three orchestras, ten group repertory classes and chamber music. Ithaca Talent Education Suzuki School offers the opportunity for families to explore Dr. Suzuki's premise that all children are born with enormous potential for reaching a high degree of excellence. Excellence from the very beginning is what describes one mission of our school. The shared experience among parent, child and teacher is a treasure of great value gained through the pursuit of this excellence.
