Isabelle Lancray was driven by beauty during some of history's darkest times. Formerly Rosine Gacier, Madame Isabelle Lancray was born in France at the onset of World War I, an era in French history when citizens were restrained by strict rationing laws and fear of disease. Despite these turbulent times, she held firm to a childhood dream to have her very own beauty parlor in the center of Paris. Toward the end of the second World War, when Paris was rebuilding and securing its reputation as an international symbol of luxury, Rosine Gacier decided to follow that dream, changing her name to Madame Isabelle Lancray and opening the very first Isabelle Lancray beauty parlor. It was around this time that she collaborated with fellow cosmetic pioneer Helena Rubenstein to found the Professional Association of French Cosmetics.
