With a membership of nearly 54,000 throughout the United States, Canada and more than 80 other countries, the International Council of Shopping Centers is the global trade association of the shopping center industry. The members of the organization include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, retailers and other professionals, as well as academics and public officials. The council links with more than 25 national and regional shopping center councils throughout the world. The group s mission is to advance the development of the shopping center industry and establish the individual shopping center as a community s primary institution. To achieve these goals, ICSC promotes the role of shopping centers in the marketing consumer goods ands services; establishes codes of fair business ethics and dealings with retailers, consumers and government agencies; encourages research into architectural design of shopping centers and the development of improved maintenance management; collects and disseminates profitable-operating information among members; studies economic, marketing and promotional conditions; and promotes the prestige of its membership.
