Institute 3E is an elite sports performance facility, helping athletes of all levels achieve success on and off the field. Using a unique approach, Institute 3E integrates athletic conditioning, mental edge coaching, lifestyle education and physical regeneration to create a complete program designed specifically to meet the needs of each athlete. Our programs are custom-tailored to the sport, position and individual strengths and weaknesses of each athlete. It took six games to accomplish the task but after hard work, determination, and some help from I3E athlete Bill Guerin, the Pittsburgh Penguins finally pulled rank on the Ottawa Senators in round one of the NHL Playoffs. As the Penguins advance to round two, they must recognize the most effective players who helped them get to where they are. Rightfully so every hockey fan hears the media obsessing over Crosby's success, and often times that is followed up with how great Malkin is. Clearly these superstars have earned that credibility. However, in the NHL, especially at the playoff level, two men can't run the show. The success of these guys has a lot to do with the supporting cast around them. As of now, Bill Guerin is holding the number 3 spot in goals ( 3 ), assists ( 5 ), points ( 8 ), shots ( 27 = above Crosby ), and power play goals ( 1 ) in the postseason. He's second place in +/- rating ( 5 ) and in lowest penalties in minutes ( 2 ). Guerin has been an incredible force behind the Penguins success in 5 of their 8 postseason games, and he clearly has showed intention of slowing down as he put a puck behind Montreal Canadiens goalie, Jaroslav Halak ' a feat which Alexander the Gr8 Ovechkin even struggled with ' in the opening game of round 2. As the Pittsburgh Penguins try to win 3 more games against the Habs to move to the Conference Finals, Guerin will be a solid man to turn to. The Institute 3E staff wishes our superstar, Billy G, and his boys the best of luck in achieving his goal: Bringing the Stanley Cup back to Pittsburgh for the second year in a row. I3E founder and strength coach, Jon DiFlorio, is hard at work learning from the best how to provide an even greater edge to his athletes. He is now in the midst of a Functional Medical Course where he is learning from world-renowned international strenth coach, Charles Poliquin, about athletes' biosignatures and what they represent for that athletes hormonal system. Charles Poliquin is the originator of this method and is a strength coach in 29 different countries. Everyone has a blueprint of where systems show stress from a hormonal perspective. After an analysis of an individual athlete's blueprint, we can offer customized supplementation protocols based on which hormonal system is stressed in their body. Depending on where an athlete's relative body fat is carried, biosignature experts can identify which hormonal system is stressed. For example, high body fat in tricep or pectoral regions showcases a testosterone deficiency. There is a 12-point body fat test that shows different dysfunctions in the body such as low testosterone, high estrogen, high cortisol, insulin resistance, etc. With this info, we will create a specific training program, nutrition and lifestyle program, and supplementation program for each athlete. We will be using this on all of our athletes over the summer, because the more balanced their body is hormonally the more efficient it will be. For anyone who believes in stereotypical superstition, the number 13 is unlucky. For I3E athlete Bill Guerin, though, the number he wears across the back of his jersey just keeps getting better. On April 8th, Guerin put two goals in the Islanders' net; one of them was his 20th goal of the season. As of that night, Guerin now has 13 seasons where he has scored 20 goals or more since he made his NHL debut with the Devils in 1991. He has been a major contribution to the Pittsburgh Penguins and has helped get his team into the 2010 playoffs. Just 10
