Head Start is a federally funded, early childhood program that serves children and their families. It provides a range of services in the areas of education, dental and mental health, nutrition and disabilities. Head Start serves daily nutritious meals, organizes educational field trips, conducts parent training classes and offers community involvement opportunities. Head Start is a federal program and a part of the Fulmont Community Action Agency, which is one of the several community agencies in New York. The Fulmont Community Action Agency is a member of the New York State Community Action Association, Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce. Head Start has a center in Amsterdam, N.Y.
