Based in Commack, N.Y., the Long Island Head Injury Association is an independent nonprofit organization offers various programs for survivors of head injury and their families. The center promotes public awareness of traumatic brain injury and its consequences and also provides solutions to several problems faced by the head injury survivors. It also provides all types of medical, rehabilitation, vocational and recreational systems to individuals suffering from head juries. Its residential services department offers housing opportunities to survivors of traumatic brain injury in community-based homes and supportive and supervised apartments. The services offered include medical, nursing support, recreation, psychological, direct care, skills training and community integration. The Long Island Head Injury Association also accepts donations and contributions in various forms.
