The Department of Public Works -- and its Commissioner, Robert G. Wasp -- is located in the Municipal Building, and provides many services to the residents of Harrison. Among them are sanitation, recycling, highways and parks services.
Garbage is collected twice a week, and recycling is picked up weekly. For metal, appliances and electronics, an appointment for pickup must be made with the department.
The Parks and Playgrounds Division maintains parks and playgrounds.
The Highway Division is responsible for paving, maintenance and repair of all Town roads. It's also responsible for the care and maintenance of sidewalks, sewer lines and storm drains. Snow removal, leaf pickup, care and removal of town trees is taken care of by the Highways Department.
