Eco-friendly is the theme at Greentique, a welcome new arrival (2010) to Port Jefferson Village's collection of speciality boutiques and artisan shops on East Main Street. Owner Jennifer Fondacaro moved her concept store here after four years in nearby Huntington Village, stocking goods made from recycled materials and by workers at fair trade companies. The offerings vary with changing trends and availability, but the merchandise is consistently unique, quirky and fun.
Among the jewelry, glassware and water bottles, one can find products such as green-themed flip flops called "Soul Seekers." There are always items from local artists like 10-year-old Kaitlin's "Happy Fish," made from recycled plastic soda bottles or high schooler Sammi's bracelets, made of tabs from aluminum cans. Even the Greentique sign out front is made from a piece of abandoned wood and painted by local artist Jennifer Nicole, who often sits outside the shop creating custom signs on the spot for passersby.
