Founded in 1917 and located in Buffalo, N.Y., the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo & Erie County is a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for girls and women between the ages of 5 and 17. It conducts workshops on topics related to personal safety, career, money management, substance abuse, family life and environmental problems. In addition, the organization provides a range of activities for the development of cooperation, teamwork and leadership skills. It also offers several opportunities for girls to attend national and international conferences and participate in career-related seminars. The organization provides day and resident camp programs that include a variety of recreational activities, such as horseback riding, swimming, boating, field trips, and arts and crafts. It also offers training programs for Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts.
