This church was founded in 1860 to support the spiritual needs of the Tarrytown African American community. The church served an important role in the Underground Railroad and continued to serve as a center for African Americans arriving form the South during and after the Civil War. In 1864 the congregation built a church on Wildey Street. It is named after Amanda Foster, one of the founders of the congregation who is considered the mother of the church. The Pastor is Reverend Paul Smith.
