Excellence Girls Charter School is an all-girls, free public charter school, serving grades K-8. The school's principal is Ms. Celestina De La Garza. Excellence Girls is a part of the Uncommon Schools network, and like the other schools in the network, it is a college preparatory school. The school opened in September 2009 to 145 kindergarteners and first-graders and will add a class every year, as each class advances.
Students wear uniforms. The curriculum is rigorous, with more than three hours of daily literacy instruction and one hour of math instruction, along with social studies, science, music, art and character education.
The school shares a campus with P.S. 309, The George E. Wibecam school which occupies the first and second floors. Excellence Girls is located on the third floor.
