Corpus Christi Church

Built in 1969, Corpus Christi R.C. Church seems to dominate the skyline around it with its incredibly tall bell tower. The Nave is done in a classical style with blue cushioned pews and old-style chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. A free parking lot exists at the Western end of the property as well as a larger lot across Willis Ave. Although most passersby will only see the church from Willis Ave., the main entrance is located on Garfield Ave., with the entrance to the sacristy office around the corner. Weekend mass: Sat, 5pm, 8pm (Spanish); Sun, 7am, 8:30am (Portuguese), 10am, 11:30am, 7pm. Daily mass: Mon - Sat, 7am - 8am, 9am. Confessions: Sat, 4pm - 4:45pm and by appointment.

Situated on Willis Ave., the small traditional church is home to Grace International Assembly of God. Built in 1899, the white clapboard siding shows some signs of weathering but holds an intimate chapel complete with a beautiful stain glass window which was installed about 75 years ago. The church offers various prayer and activities throughout the week as well as vacation bible school every summer and an on-site playground for children. A renovation to the church is scheduled to be done by the end of 2010.

Corpus Christi School

Housed within the walls of the Corpus Christi School, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Program (CCD) plans, implements and oversees the religious education of the Catholic youths in the community. The religious education program is offered to the estimated 700 youths in grades one through eight who attend public schools. The program also oversees the various preparations, sacraments and rituals in the Catholic faith for these students including First Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation as well as appropriate parental instruction and information. CCD also offers catechist and adult education classes.
