District Council 37, also known as DC 37, is one of the largest public employee unions in New York. The organization has a blue collar division that maintains a membership of more than 10,000 people. Its hospitals division has over 10,000 members working in health centers and the New York State Department of Correctional Services. District Council 37 also manages a professional division that has nearly 46,800 members working in libraries, colleges, and social and health agencies. The organization has approximately 120,000 members in more than 900 job titles. District Council 37 is a part of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
