The New York State Bar Association, with more than 70,000 members, is the nation's largest voluntary statewide association of lawyers. The NYSBA has long served a dual role as an advocate for the profession and for the public. During the past decade, the association has initiated programs addressing a wide range of public concerns, such as child abuse, problems of the elderly, governmental corruption and the high cost of justice.
