DeLalio Sod Farms, located in Dix Hills, N.Y., is a grower and wholesale seller of turf grass. In addition to supplying sod, the company offers to handle an extensive line of lawn-related products. It custom mixes sod quality grass seed blends and has its own premium line of fertilizers. It also supplies lawn control products, hydro seeding materials, topsoil, mulches and other lawn care goods to landscape professionals. The sod is closely monitored while it is being developed, and the company provides irrigation and fertilizers, and uses an integrated pest management program. The turf seeds are certified and tested by independent seed testing laboratories before being sold. They are then blended to produce turf with high resistance to insects, disease and heavy wear. Additionally, the turf has low water and nitrogen requirements and good shade tolerance.
