To fully appreciate Craft Company No.6, you must know of when it was Firehouse No.6. Built in 1888, Engine Company No.6, housed in Firehouse No.6, used horse-drawn steam engines and was important during the "Era of the Horses" from 1886 to 1921. After consolidating its resources, the Rochester Fire Department decommissioned the building in the mid-20th century. In 1980, the building was revitalized and turn into a prized retail destination under the name: Craft Company No.6. Today it is owned by Rochester natives who have already given a career worth of their lives to building Rochester’s infrastructure. Kathleen Verzillo is a former teacher and lifelong civil servant, who was irreplaceable as senior administrator of Rochester’s police and fire candidacy functions. Carmen Verzillo is also a former teacher and was a longtime manager of the City of Rochester’s permit and commercial zoning office. Their son, Michael Verzillo, is a Monroe Community College and SUNY Geneseo graduate in Business Administration with specialties in marketing and communication.
