Founded in 1893, Henry Street Settlement delivers a range of social services and art programs to more than 100,000 New Yorkers each year. The organization maintains multidisciplinary arts, shelter and supportive services, behavioral and health care, senior and home care services centers, as well as a workforce development and day care center and afterschool and summer programs for neighborhood youth. It operates the Abrons Arts Center that was built in 1975 for the low-income community. In addition, Henry Street Settlement offers community-based housing, shelter and related services to homeless families and battered women. Several of its staff members are the recipients of various awards and recognition, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Department of Mental Health. The organization has multiple offices in New York City.
