Toyisha Bethea-Rizo possesses a true passion for cooking. Her culinary career began early on, inspired by the premature loss of her mother at the tender age of ten. She would cook for her teachers and experiment with different foods earning her the nickname of Toyisha Surprise. As she matured she continued to prepare dishes for family and friends. She joined the healthcare industry for a short time and enjoyed helping people but was not fulfilled. In 2012, she enrolled in the Culinary Institute of Long Island to perfect her craft. Throughout her matriculation, she learned about the science of food. During this time, she also learned more about the business of food. Toyisha's culinary repertoire flourished during an internship at Optimum in Woodbury, NY where she developed and refined her culinary techniques. She graduated in 2014 with her certification and license.
