The Carmel Parks and Recreation Department is a part of the Town of Carmel, which consists of the hamlets of Carmel, Mahopac and Mahopac Falls in New York. The town is governed by a supervisor and four part-time council members. It has a town clerk, receiver of taxes, highway department, assessor, accountant, building division, town counsel, comptroller, engineer, justice court and police department. The Carmel Parks and Recreation Department manages the Sycamore, Jimmy McDonough Memorial, Chamber, Red Mills and Volz parks, as well as the Michael Geary Rink. The department oversees facilities that include tennis courts, baseball and football fields, walking paths, picnic and playground areas, beaches, grills and concession stands. It also coordinates summer camps and activities for senior citizens.
