The Brooklyn and Long Island Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (BLIACS) is the largest Chapter in the State of New York, representing downstate Fellows and advocating for their interests in lobby efforts for the ACS. With a history dating back to 1930, BLIACS provides continuing medical educational opportunities for its members and plays a crucial role in the local surgical communities, state organizations, College affairs, and government bodies.
BLIACS offers networking opportunities, allowing members to make their voices heard and connect with professionals in the surgical field. The Chapter also focuses on education, hosting an annual Clinic Day and Multi-Specialty Surgical Symposium in December, in collaboration with the Nassau Surgical Society. Additionally, BLIACS supports career development by sending a young surgeon representative to Washington, D.C. each year to learn about advocacy leadership for the Chapter of the College.
