The Bronx High School for Visual Arts, also known as BHSVA, was founded in 2002 by educators, artists and local activists. The school specializes in providing visual arts education to students in grades 9 through 12. It is recognized by the Department of Education's Project Arts. The Bronx High School for Visual Arts facilities include a library, computer laboratory and general arts studio. The school s curriculum includes several subjects, including social studies, English, math and science. It also offers classes in physical education and Spanish. Additionally, the school supports special education programs. Its studio art program includes instruction in sculpture, digital media and photography.
