History
Begun as part of a thesis to complete a Masters in Fine Art Program at Buffalo State College, the original gallery owners purchased a small storefront on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, New York. Two years later, their business was booming and a gorgeous Victorian mansion two doors down was chosen to house the magnificent collection of fine art you see today, both in the gallery and online. The Benjaman Gallery remains a family owned and operated business in the art district of the vibrant Elmwood strip between downtown Buffalo and the Albright-Knox and Burchfield Penny Art Museums. Furthermore, the collection is enhanced by its surroundings in the historic 1800's Victorian mansion. The details of the building, from the hand-carved wood molding to the stained glass windows are an enjoyable architectural and artistic experience all on their own.
