History
In September 2009, I met Rick Stock, a personal trainer employed by the US Army. Rick introduced me to Tabata, an aggressive style of interval training developed in Japan, which features eight, 20-second work sets, each followed by 10 seconds of recovery. I began to research Tabata and was sufficiently impressed by the studies I found that I decided to experiment with the concept, eventually conducting extensive tests on a wide range of high-intensity, body-weight exercises. In the spring of 2010 Beastanetics was born and shortly thereafter I taught the first Beastanetics class at Google in New York City. Since then Beastanetics classes have been held at Etsy, St. Joseph's College, the 14th Street Y, Matrix, McCarren Park, Bushwick Inlet Park, and Astoria Park.
Specialties
Founded in 2009, Beastanetics is an interval-training fitness class which improves cardiovascular conditioning, strength, speed, agility, mobility, flexibility, and body composition. Students range in age from late 20s to mid 50s and run the gamut fitnesswise. The classes are challenging, but accessible to exercisers of almost any fitness level. Your instructor is the creator of the program and has been a certified personal trainer for more than 20 years. From April through November classes take place outdoors on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30am ET in McCarren Park in Williamsburg. And on an experimental basis we're offering classes via Zoom on Mondays at 6:30pm ET.
