History
We began on a little outcropping on a small piece of land across from the beautiful and perfect-for-growing-grapes microclimate of the Basha Kill Wetlands. A few vines were lovingly planted by hand in 2005 and in time, we've grown to 5 acres of organic vines and making New York reds that will make you think twice about the definition of a New York red! We are the first commercial winery in Sullivan County and believe that wine should be fun, should be communal, should be something both of the earth and refined. We love the rural setting of our vineyard and enjoy using it as a way for people to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world around us!
Specialties
On our vineyard, all of our grapes are grown organically. We prune them by hand, tie them by hand, and in the autumn harvest, pick the grape clusters by hand! Following this natural strategy, we use Babydoll sheep as living lawnmowers to keep the weeds down. What we lack in size we make up for in heart, and every bottle of our wine is hand-bottled even today!
