Founded in 1948 by a group of audio engineers, Audio Engineering Society is a professional society devoted to the developments in the audio industry. It disseminates information on the new developments in the audio industry through annual technical meetings and exhibitions of professional equipment and through its publication, "Journal of the Audio Engineering Society." It has more than 12,000 members throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe and Japan. Its education committee hosts educational fairs and publishes a directory on educational programs, which is a comprehensive international guide to educational programs and career opportunities in the audio industry. It also has a historical committee that is an international forum open to members who want to learn about the achievements of pioneers in the industry. Audio Engineering is headquartered in New York City.
