Immaculate Conception School of Allegany County, located in Wellsville, NY, was a beloved educational institution that served the residents of Allegany County and beyond for 147 years. Unfortunately, due to declining enrollment and financial challenges, the school made the difficult decision to cease operations. Throughout its long history, Immaculate Conception School was dedicated to nurturing young minds, offering a challenging curriculum and fostering a safe and creative learning environment.
Under the direction of Wellsville's Immaculate Conception parish, the school became a diocesan regional school in 2007. Despite valiant efforts to sustain the school, the low projected enrollment and budget deficit led to the closure. The community expressed gratitude to the Canonical Administrator, Father Jim Hartwell, Principal Caitilin Dewey, and the Sisters of Mercy for their support and involvement with the school over the years. Immaculate Conception School extends its heartfelt thanks to Wellsville and the surrounding communities for their unwavering support throughout its many years of operation.
