The Brooklyn Long Island Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (BLIACS) is the largest Chapter in the State of New York, serving as the local representative for downstate Fellows. With a history dating back to 1930, BLIACS provides its members with continuing medical educational opportunities and advocates for the Fellows by assisting in lobby efforts for the American College of Surgeons.
BLIACS offers networking opportunities, allowing members to make their voices heard in the local surgical communities, state organizations, College affairs, and government bodies. They also organize annual events such as the Clinic Day and Multi-Specialty Surgical Symposium, providing valuable education to surgeons. Additionally, the Chapter supports career development by sending a young surgeon representative to Washington, D.C. each year to learn about advocacy leadership for the College.
