Founded in 1939, American Ballet Theatre is one of the leading dance companies in the United States. The theatre offers performance in a wide range of ballets, such as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle, Apollo, Les Sylphides, Jardin aux Lilas and Rodeo, Airs, Push Comes to Shove, and Duets. It is also one of the major cultural institutes performing for more than 600,000 people annually throughout the nation, and has made more than 15 international tours, offering concerts in over 42 countries. The theatre additionally provides various nationally recognized education and training programs for dancers, including ballet for the young dancers, classical ballet technique, Pointe, variations, partnering, men s class, character, modern technique, Pilates, dance, through Studio Company, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, and young dancer summer workshop. Located in New York City, it also offers special programs for public and private schools, and families.
