The University of New Mexico is a more than 550-square-foot facility that offers a range of educational programs. Founded in 1889, it administers more than 200 certificate and degree courses in business administration, accounting, economics, European studies, geography, community and regional planning, and historic preservation and regionalism. The university provides programs in various foreign languages, such as French, German and Portuguese. The University of New Mexico also offers distance learning and evening and weekend degree programs to over 10,000 students. It maintains libraries that feature collections of books and periodicals. The university offers sports programs in baseball, basketball and softball. The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is the one of the largest academic health complexes in New Mexico. It additionally operates a student activities center.
