Established in 1905, New Mexico State Police preserves human lives and property, protects public peace and the rights of citizens, prevents crime and disorder and enforces federal laws. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with state, local and federal agencies in the exchange of information to the public. New Mexico State Police maintains accident reconstruction, aircraft aviation, bicycle patrol, bomb, crime scene and criminal investigation teams. In addition, the department has an emergency response team, K-9 unit and honor guard. Headquartered in Sante Fe, N.M., New Mexico State Police maintains an office location in Espanola, N.M.
