History
The SMNHC property was purchased by APS in the 1950's. Beginning in 1967, environmental education programs began for students in the Albuquerque area. In 1993, the State of New Mexico became an equal partner through the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. The center provides ecosystem exploration, hiking, and hands-on science activities to every 5th grade student in APS, and many in private schools and surrounding school districts.
