Established in 1942, Holloman Air Force Base supports more than 21,000 active-duty fighters, retirees, the Department of Defense civilians and family members. Its personnel have participated in various operations, such as Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The base has a fighter wing that supports national security objectives with F-22A stealth fighters and air transportable clinic. The wing deploys worldwide to support peacetime and wartime contingencies. The base s operation group offers training courses for U.S. Air Force and allied aircrews in F-22A and T-38 transition. Holloman Air Force Base also includes a maintenance group that handles aircraft, propulsion systems, avionics and accessories for the F-22A Raptor. The maintenance group additionally supports flying activities and exercises. The base s medical group provides health care services for fighters. Holloman Air Force Base manages a materiel maintenance group that is responsible for the storage, inspection, repair, deployment and accountability of bare base assets.
