HistorySince we have opened, we have strived to bring pleasure and educate to our visitors and community about the wonders of our special plants and animals and their unique adaptations to living in a harsh desert environment.SpecialtiesThe Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park is located in Carlsbad, NM. Our 1.3 miles walk features the plants and animals that live in the Chihuahuan Desert. Winter hours are from 9 am to 5 pm Labor Day Weekend -Memorial Day Weekend. Summer hours are 8 am to 5 pm Memorial Day Weekend- Labor Day Weekend. Last entry is 3:30 pm to allow visitors to view the Zoo at their own pace. Due to the high summer temperatures , it recommended that you come early in the morning when the animals are more active.
