The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) is a national organization based in Albuquerque, NM, dedicated to promoting and sustaining American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian tourism that respects and honors traditions and values. With a mission to define, introduce, grow, and sustain indigenous tourism, AIANTA offers a range of programs, webinars, and certificate programs to support and educate indigenous tourism operators and leaders. They also collaborate with various partners and organizations to enhance international visitation to Native Nations destinations and properties.
As the leader in cultural heritage tourism, AIANTA celebrates its 25th anniversary and recently announced a historic name change for its signature American Indian Tourism Conference (AITC), which will now be known as the American Indigenous Tourism Conference. This change reflects the organization's commitment to inclusivity and the preservation of cultural heritage storytelling beyond tribes, encompassing all U.S. Native Nations and communities. AIANTA also supports initiatives like Native-Owned Farmers Markets, recognizing the vital role that farmers markets play in Indigenous communities.
