Part of the New Jersey Transit system, the Woodbridge Train Station sits on an elevated track, the first stop (or the last, depending upon which direction you're going in) of the North Jersey Coast Line. It offers local and express service to shore points southbound, and to Newark and New York City's Penn Station to the north.
It's one of three train stations in the township, the other two being Avenel and MetroPark in Iselin. The old wooden train station, built as a public works project during the Depression, was demolished and replaced by glass encased waiting areas on the platform, along with automated ticketing machines. On the street level, there is a news stand and a coffee shop, both of which open early to serve commuters.
There are two staircases at both ends of the platform for access to the station; there is also an elevator by the main entrance on Pearl Street.
There are four municipal lots which serve commuters, and the vast majority of spaces are prepaid monthly parking. A lot on Eleanor Street serves daily riders for $5 a day. There is no long term street parking in this residential area.
