A nine-member Board of Education oversees the finances of a school district with sixteen elementary schools, five middle schools and three high schools. The student population hovers around 13,000, and district taxpayers fund the annual educational budget of $181.5 million.
Brian Small is the Board of Education's president; other members include Vice President Diane Acquisto, John Golden, Judy Leidner, Lawrence Miloscia, Brian Molnar, Ezio Tamburello, Jonathan Triebwasser, and George Yuhasz. Every April, three of nine BOE seats are up for reelection.
Board of Ed meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of the month at Avenel Middle School. The district's administrative offices are located in the Township's first schoolhouse, "PS 1", which was built in 1876 of bricks fashioned in Woodbridge's clay pits.
Dr. John A. Crowe is the district's superintendent, and Dennis DeMarino serves as business administrator.
