The Watchung Police Department serves Watchung Borough residents and the borough's commercial areas on Route 22. The department includes a patrol, criminal investigations, internal affairs, traffic and records/discovery divisions under Chief of Police Timothy Wenzel. The department was founded in 1926, with an all-volunteer force under Chief Richard Bellis.
