Lakewood Township Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of township roads and sewers, parks and open space, snowplowing of streets, leaf and brush collection, garbage and recycling collection and tire, refrigerator and appliances that contain refrigerants collection. Located in Lakewood, N.J., the department collects garbage once a week in each of the four zones with the exception of the commercial downtown area. Its maintenance crew makes and installs signs, paints the crosswalks at the intersections of streets, repairs doors and locks and builds different types of structures as needed. The department s repair crew handles drainage problems, and cleans and repairs catch basins, manholes and storm drainage pipes. Lakewood Township Public Works Department s animal control officers organize the dog census and assist with the rabies clinic.
