The Ewing Police Academy is a unique and exciting four day program Kids have the opportunity to interact with professional policeman throughout the course and can see into the day of a policeman. Additionally the kids have the opportunity to evaluate early in life if this is a field they would like to enter. Whether your child watches police shows on television or is excited every time he or she sees a policeman, it just may be a love for the profession and respect for the badge. At the Ewing Police, kids have the opportunity to get first hand knowledge and hands on interaction with those in the profession. Children attending the Ewing Police Academy will get to explore the difference services offered by the profession. The kids will be considered recruits and have the opportunity to experience 4 days of police training developed specifically for Police Academy training. In addition to the services and responsibilities that made up the professional of law enforcement, the recruits also experience crime scene techniques, car searches, obstacle courses, and are afforded other experiences that involve law enforcement tools. The Ewing Police Academy will be held the last four Saturdays in April 2011 starting with April 9th. The academy, which is designed for kids between 12 -14 years of age, will meet between the hours of 9: 00AM and 1: 00PM on those Saturdays. There is no fee to attend the Ewing Police Academy. All kids will receive an academy tee shirt and academy baseball hat along with their academy notebook. Our Community has been experiencing an increase in burglaries to residences, businesses and vehicles. They are happening at all times and every day of the week. We are asking residents to call the police department if they observe any suspicious people or unusual activity.
