HistoryA&R was established in 1972 by Adrienne Rich. With a desire to create a one-of-a-kind design firm that represented her belief that spaces should reflect the personalities of the people who live and work in them, not the designer, Adrienne opened a small shop in the Morris County Mall, Cedar Knolls, NJ. In fact, when the 13,000- square- foot vintage Denville movie theatre became available she seized the opportunity and transformed the grand 1930s Art Deco theatre into our dynamic showroom. Adrienne's penchant for getting to know and understand her clients coupled with great design support launched the firm into an award-winning multi-million dollar business with clients in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and throughout the country. Many are well-known and many have become well-known friends to A&R!
