Although Argonne Park is one of Teaneck's largest parks, most of the land is heavily wooded and undeveloped. The developed portion of the park is near Englewood Avenue, not far from Teaneck's border with the City of Englewood. Features of the developed area include tennis courts, a baseball field, playground equipment, basketball courts and lots of open space for picnics. The wooded areas of the park, near Genessee Avenue and the Englewood border, have no marked trails, and the thick woods make it difficult to explore those areas. The park was named to honor New Jersey residents who fought and died at the Battle of Argonne in World War I. Some streets around the park are even named for individual Teaneck residents who lost their lives in that battle.
