St. Peter's Episcopal Church operates the shop as a means of supplying inexpensive or free merchandise to people of need in the local community. This Salvation Army Family Store has a large and well-organized selection of second-hand housewares, furniture, clothing, shoes, books, electronics and bric-a-brac. There is clothing for men, women and children alike, and you can browse by size and color. On Wednesdays, there is a 50 percent off sale for family day.

The money collected by the Salvation Army's kettles is used to fund many charitable projects throughout the city. Projects include subisidized heat programs, food kitchen operations and toy drives.
