Operational for more than 100 years, the Oradell Fire Department is responsible for developing programs and plans for fire protection and suppression, fire safety education and fire prevention for business communities and more than 10,000 residents. It has a fire prevention committee, which is responsible for education and presenting programs in the areas of fire safety and fire prevention to the residents of Oradell, N.J. Additionally, the committee specializes in reducing fire- and burn-related injuries, deaths and property losses. The Oradell Fire Department maintains two boats that are used by its scuba and water rescue units that respond to water emergencies in the county and state. The units also conduct drills in the Oradell Reservoir and Oradell Swim Club.
