Purchased by bookmaker and promoter Tim Mara in 1925 for a mere $500, the New York Football Giants is one of the National Football League s two New York franchises. The team has won eight league championships, including two Super Bowls in 1986 and 1990. It has also inducted 19 players as well as Tim Mara and his son, current club president Wellington Mara into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Though associated with New York, the Giants organization is based in East Rutherford, N.J., where its home field, the 80,000-capacity Giants Stadium, is also located. The organization is now owned equally by Wellington Mara and Preston Robert Tisch, chairman of Loews Corporation.
