New Jersey Division of Consumer Afairs is the state's consumer protection agency. It is a division of the Department of Law and Public Safety and the office of the Attorney General. It helps to protect the public from disreputable practices when purchasing products and services. The division's units regulate the sale of securities, oversee Bingo and raffle licensing, provide alternative dispute resolutions, operate the Office of Weights and Measures, and investigate consumer fraud complaints. It also maintains 41 boards and committees that monitor more than 80 professions and occupations, including plumbing, nursing, cosmetology and health clubs.
